Well, we had another couple of big adventures as we drove back to Utah and Idaho. 28 hours, 3 kids, and 3 dogs. I guess I should back up a bit and explain how hard it was to actually get out the door. Saturday night the master bathroom and closet flooded. Monday Brooklyn ended up with a double ear infection. Tuesday morning Abby woke up with pink eye (which would later turn into an ear infection while we were in Idaho) and also Tuesday, Kyleigh had her 4 month shots. So I prepared myself for a horrible drive and prayed that it wouldn't be as bad as I had expected. My prayers were answered because the kids slept all night Tuesday night in the car and for the most part weren't too bad on our drive to Colorado on Wednesday or the final stretch to Utah on Thursday. On our way through New Mexico we all really had to use the restroom and we were in the middle of no where! We pulled up to this little building that actually was an elementary school. Pretty sure we were the only white people there, ha ha. The school was having a bring your family to lunch day for Thanksgiving so no one even asked us why we were there only to ask us why we were leaving so soon, lol!
We stayed one night in Pagosa Springs, Colorado in this cabin. Going from 83 here in Texas to a frigid 18 there was quite the shock to us all! And other then Bruce (our golden retriever) the night went pretty well.
The next morning we finished our drive to Utah where we all finally got to meet my sister's little boy Konner and they all got to meet Kyleigh. I can tell that they are going to be great friends :)The next day, Friday, we had our own little Thanksgiving / Brooklyn, Uncle Trent, & Grandma Birthday Party. Now I didn't get any pictures of the food fight because I was too busy cleaning out the sweet potatoes from Kyleigh's ear, but I assure you that it was quite the sight, as a typical Call food fight would be.
On Saturday evening we drove up to Idaho. We spent 5 days there and the girls really enjoyed the farm and spending time with all of their cousins. The Mittelstadt's have some little ponies for the kids to ride and even though Brooklyn was bucked off of one she was fearless and wanted more. Abby on the other hand wouldn't even touch one. Ethan had a great time hunting and shot some beautiful pheasants, and ducks. However they are now in my freezer :(
On our way back from Idaho we stopped and had some leftovers with Grandpa Call and some of the family on his side. On our way to Orem we stopped and walked around Temple Square to see all of the lights. Brooklyn has been asking for a long time to go to the "Temple where mommy & daddy got married" so we really wanted to show her. Plus, it has been over 6 years since we had been there.
The next day we took some family pictures by our wonderful friend Megan Godfrey. I will have to post some of those pictures soon.
Our trip ended so quickly and we were sad to leave. One more adventure for the road was that I had to leave my wedding ring in Utah with my brother. It's sort of a long story that involves loose stones and a chipped diamond, but it all got worked out. Our drive home was not as great as the drive there. The kids didn't sleep well at night, we only stopped 4 times for quick potty stops and gas, and the girls cried pretty much the last 5 hours of the drive (but they did manage to all fall asleep for the last 15 min, of course) We really enjoyed our time with everyone and can't wait to see everyone again :)
There were so many pictures of family and friends that I couldn't post them all, sorry.
