Our Mini Vacation

With all of the things that had been going on this year so far we desperately needed a vacation. Ethan had 2 days off in a row... which in and of itself is a miracle. I thought Ethan had made plans for us to go up to Dallas and take the kids to the zoo and then to an A's game. However, he got home that morning and said, "Make sure to pack swim suits just in case." We loaded up the kids and as soon as we got out to the main road he says, " North, South, East, or West?"  I looked at him and said, "Really? You didn't plan anything?" Knowing my husband this is quite a common thing. One day  maybe he will understand that this is harder to do with kids, ha ha. We agreed on South and ended up in Corpus Christi! We have been wanting to go to the beach since we moved here. It wasn't a bad drive either, only 4 hours or so.  We had an awesome location, right down the street was the battleship, The Lexington, and the Texas State Aquarium. We found a decent hotel right on the beach and spent the day on the beach and walking around this part of town. The only downside to this day was that Abby unfortunately got stung by a jellyfish! Thank heavens for the medic :) Poor little girl. It has been 2 weeks and she still has a huge mark. Anyway, the night went surprisingly well and the girls slept pretty good. The next morning we took the girls to the aquarium. We loaded up everyone in the car and decided we didn't want to go home yet, ha ha, go figure. Ethan wanted to go to the actual ocean side since Corpus Christi was just a bay. He is so funny. Anyway, we drove down to Padre Island and went to the "actual ocean". We brought a cooler of food and had lunch on the beach, and then played there most of the afternoon. It was wonderful!!! The girls had a blast finding shells and playing in the sand. When we finally had to go home we took a ferry to Port Aransas (which was only a 5 min boat ride, but still pretty cool) and then drove back. We will for sure have to do this trip again before we move!
